Specialized speech-language therapy, and literacy skills instruction for children and teens
Providing personalized individual speech therapy service for kids and teens
Areas We Address
Speech Sound Disorders
Speech sound disorders affect a child's ability to produce speech sounds. Even basic speech requires the coordination of rapid and discrete movements. Every child goes through some natural speech patterns on their communication journey. Even so, some children experience delays and phonological disorders, which affect their intelligibility outside of what is typical. If you notice that you or other communication partners are having a difficult time understanding your child, a speech evaluation may be appropriate.
Language Delays and Disorders
Language is comprised of many different parts. Specifically, expressive language (how we communicate wants, needs, and ideas), and receptive language (how we understand what is said in the environment, verbally or in writing). As well as semantics (the meaning of words), pragmatics (social use of language), and syntax (word order in phrases and sentences). Difficulties can arise in any of these areas as children develop their communication skills. We can evaluate and address all of these areas with considerate and individualized therapy services.
Literacy
We now know that the brain is wired for verbal communication. However, the same is not true for reading and writing. Literacy skills start with sound play in early childhood and grow into encoding, decoding, and understanding long, complex passages. We hope that all children and teens are able to develop a love of learning and exploration through reading. We provide literacy skills instruction to support reading and writing through evidence-based knowledge and strategies.
WELCOME!
More than 10 years of experience in pediatric speech therapy
Children are referred to speech therapy more than any other therapeutic intervention. Even so, finding the right fit for your child and family can sometimes feel challenging. I founded Speechcraft to provide direct, high-quality, and individualized services that meet each child’s unique needs.
I specialize in supporting children and teens with articulation and motor speech disorders, language delays and disorders, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), and literacy skills. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming—treating each child with the respect they deserve and valuing all forms of communication.
If you have questions or would like to learn more about the services I offer, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I would be happy to support your child’s communication journey.
